The Faculty of Philosophy and Arts of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) is pleased to host a seminar by Professor Jason Mittell (Professor of Film and American Studies, Middlebury College, USA), a leading figure in film and media studies and director of the acclaimed Workshop on Videographic Criticism at Middlebury College. The seminar will explore how digital technologies are reshaping the ways scholars can analyze and present their research through the medium of the video essay. Designed for students and faculty interested in critical and creative approaches to audiovisual storytelling, the session will highlight how film and digital media can serve as powerful tools for academic inquiry and innovation.
This event is organized by the research project Cinema and Environment 2: Ways of Seeing Beyond the Anthropocene (PID2023-152989NB-I00 – MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033), in collaboration with LITANGLO – Contemporary Anglophone Literatures, BRICCS – British and Comparative Cultural Studies: Identities and Representation, and ADHUC – Research Centre for Theory, Gender, and Sexuality / UNESCO Chair Women, Development and Cultures.
